What other teachers said:

To: Potential English Teachers in Daqing, China

"I have just completed a six month teaching contract in
Daqing and found the experience most satisfactory. My
employer was pleasant and helpful and went out of his
way to fulfill everything in the contract. I was met
at the airport, my ground transportation was looked
after and I was helped with my luggage, my hotel and
my long term accommodation was comfortable and
conveniently situated. My salary was always paid
promptly and completely.

The students were outgoing and friendly and attentive
in class. The other staff were helpful and
accommodating. The teaching material was suitable and
complete and provide to all students.

I would definitely recommend Daqing as a place to
teach and live."

Mel Rankin. 19 October, 2007.

To: Potential English Teachers in Daqing, China

"Every day in China has been filled with happiness. I want the whole world to know; that my whole life is undergoing positive changes as a result of visiting China. Not only did I eagerly accept People Innovation's offer; I am considering becoming a permanent resident. I have a chronic recurring pain in my lower back; but with the help of Chinese medicine; I am pain free, pill free, and completely functional. In Canada, I was a long term user of pain pills like oxycontin (addicted). Life here takes some readjustment; but after you learn a few things - not just the language - you will have the experience of a lifetime. Farm produce is fresher than Canada, by the way... The Chinese people are optimistic people. Their positive outlook you will find invigorating. Get involved in China. People will invite you into their homes; and into their lives. These are friendly loveable people. There are lots of police; but they do not usually even carry guns. They are trained to help people. I have been a recipient of their understanding ways.
Read Rudyard Kipling's poetry about East and West. You are about to learn something. China has 6,000 years of recorded history. Canada has maybe 200. My grandfather's grandfather was a Selkirk settler. A guy named Joseph MacKay; so you can understand; that my roots in Canada are deep. I should write a book; but i am not sufficiently eloquent with English to adequately convey the education you are about to begin."

Ron Tweedie. 2 March, 2008.

"Teaching and living in China is an incredible experience. Having spent your life as an anonymous average person in your home country, you suddenly become the center of attention. Because you are an 'American' you become qualified for jobs you could never get back home. People want to talk to you. They want to know your opinion about everything. They want to be your friend. You may be interviewed on TV or appear in a commercial. You might be invited to take part in an athletic competition, even though you've never played the sport. You will be labeled as a 'Foreign Expert'..."

About the city of Daqing

Daqing is a world well-known petroleum city. Daqing is one of the largest oil production base in China and it is also an important base for the petrochemical industry in China, with over 70 large and small-sized petrochemical enterprises. Daqing was twinned with city of Calgary in Canada for its affiliation with the oil and gas industry.

Located in the Heilongjiang Province in the north east of China, the City of Daqing has five districts and four counties under its jurisdiction and covers an area of 21,000 square kilometers with a population of 2.6 million.

Daqing is now diversifying its energy-oriented economy. The development of a substitute industry is based on the high-tech sector, but other industries, such as deep processing of petrochemical products, processing of agriculture by-products, electronics and information, building and building materials, medicine, tourism and service are also being rapidly developed.

Similar to Canadians, people in Daqing are well-known for their warm, friendly and caring attitudes.
